Why pallet racking from BITO is the right choice

Efficient storage of large product quantities, most pallet types, unit loads and heavy-weight individual goods

Pallet racking systems have been designed for high load capacities. This means that you can store several pallets, each weighing around 1,000 kg, next to each other in a single racking bay. Pallet racking systems are suited for a wide variety of pallet types. The racking lanes can accommodate several pallets in depth. Channel storage systems such as pallet flow racking store goods ordered in large quantities and at frequent intervals (fast movers). Long lanes and a reduced number of service aisles enable very compact storage. Automated pallet racking systems in particular achieve very high throughput rates. This storage system is particularly suitable for space-saving and computer-controlled loading and retrieval of goods with a low error rate. They can be used for example as replenishment, reserve or buffer stores to ensure a high level of product availability.

Better use of floor space and warehouse cube, shorter throughput times

Racking systems that make optimum use of the warehouse height and operate with only a few service aisles achieve a high storage density. Automated pallet storage facilities with shuttle vehicles running on a grid offer the highest level of space utilisation (almost 98 percent). Floor space and volume utilisation are excellent in all high-density warehouses featuring highbay racking, channel racking such as pallet flow racking, drive-in racking, mobile racking, narrow-aisle storage, automated pallet storage and shuttle-serviced storage systems. Short lead times, i.e. the time between receipt of the order and the time of dispatch, can be achieved in particular by automating a warehouse, but also by using the right storage equipment. For example, picking performance increases when goods are stored in live storage racking. Since goods are loaded at the rear and retrieved at the front, loading and retrieval do not interfere with each other.

What are the benefits of pallet racking from BITO?

Good floor space and volume utilisation

Many pallet warehouses such as high-bay warehouses, narrow-aisle pallet racking, channel racking, drive-in racking and mobile racking as well as automated pallet racking systems offer a high level of floor space and room utilisation. Goods are often stored in a compact way, but are still easy to retrieve, although pallets are not directly accessible when stored several pallets deep.

Direct access to pallets

In conventional pallet racking, pallets are easily accessible even when stored double-deep. With single-deep storage, all pallets are directly accessible. Even with mobile racking, narrow aisle racking or drive-in racking, each pallet can usually be accessed directly. Conventional pallet racking can of course also be automated. In automated systems, stacker cranes or shuttle carriers are used to retrieve pallets.

Deep-lane pallet storage

Lanes storing multiple pallets maximise storage capacity. Direct access to each storage unit or pallet is not possible. To access a pallet, other pallets must be relocated.

Scalability

As pallet racking systems have a modular design, they are very easily scalable. E-commerce companies and start-ups in particular often grow quickly and need adaptable and versatile racking systems that grow with their business to cope with order peaks and changes in the product range. BITO pallet racking can be extended to keep pace with a growing product range and with increasing demand.

Partial or full-scale automation

Partial automation of a pallet warehouse is usually achieved by introducing an inventory management system (IMS) or a warehouse management system (WMS). These systems are a prerequisite for achieving a 100% automation rate and for operating with a stacker crane or shuttle carriers whereas semi-automated systems need industrial trucks with a WMS connection and warehouse staff to perform storage and retrieval tasks. Further automation steps can be implemented as needed.

High throughput rates

The throughput rate in a warehouse refers to the quantity of goods or materials that enter and leave the warehouse in a given period of time. It is an important indicator of the efficiency and performance of a warehouse. Throughput is usually measured in units per time, e.g. pallets per hour. The question is therefore how many pallets can be stored and retrieved per hour in a pallet storage facility. As a rule, the throughput rate of pallet live storage systems and automated pallet racking systems is very high.

Safety

The PLS Access Kit enables easy and safe access to racking lanes for maintenance, repair and cleaning. In addition, BITO takes all relevant safety regulations into account when planning storage facilities. Measures include installing sprinkler systems, providing containers with water drainage holes or supplying grating as level decking.

Broad range of accessories

The BITO range includes a large choice of accessories for pallet racking systems, such as the PLS Access Kit for optimum safety during maintenance and repair, pallets and pallet boxes, brake rollers and load-bearing rollers, impact guards, push-through guards, anchor bolts, add-on bays, pallet infeed guides, pull-out pallet positions, in-depth support bars, chipboard decking, spacers and collision warning systems for industrial trucks.

Sustainability

BITO shelving and racking systems are manufactured with a focus on sustainability. This means that we select high-quality, environmentally friendly raw and auxiliary materials, use energy-efficient machines and resource-saving production processes. All shelving and racking components are manufactured at our main plant in Meisenheim using state-of-the-art technology.
