Drive-in racking
BITO drive-in racking enables highly compact storage of pallets in multiple horizontally and vertically arranged aisles. The vehicle drives into the aisle and places the pallets from back to front on storage rails running fully from one side of the rack to the other. This makes optimal use of surface area and storage space.
Drive-in racking is particularly well suited for storing large volumes of the same item, for pressure-sensitive or unstable goods, for small- to medium-sized product ranges, and for low-turnover items. This racking system is also ideal for seasonal or buffer storage, and for storing products with a long shelf life.
Goods are stored and retrieved using a service vehicle which drives into the aisle. Goods are always loaded and unloaded from the same side. Operating based on the LiFo (last in, first out) principle, the last pallet stored is then the first to be retrieved. This system should therefore only be used to store goods where direct access to specific pallets is not required.
Compared with BITO drive-in racking, BITO drive-through racking has all of the same benefits - but it can also be used from both sides: goods are stored on one side and retrieved from the other. Operating on the FiFo (first in, first out) principle, the first load stored is therefore also the first to be retrieved.
Your benefits
General benefits
- Cost-efficiency
» The drive-in system enables particularly compact pallet storage, saving on costly floor space.
- Perfect use of space
» Drive-in racking ensures that warehouse volume is used exceptionally efficiently.
- Safe, secure storage
» Pressure-sensitive goods can be securely stored in this racking system, which holds even unevenly-loaded pallets compactly and securely.
- System-specific advantages of drive-through racking
» Compared with drive-in racking, drive-through racking enables increased picking performance.
Components and options
Frame
- Very robust
- For heavy-duty applications
» BITO drive-in racking is made with the same frames as our well established pallet racking system. It is fully screwed in place and particularly well suited to heavy loads. At the top end, the frames are connected to each other with struts in side-to-side and in front-to-back direction. Additionally, the uprights of each frame are linked to each other by horizontal and diagonal struts to ensure that all parts of the frame are solidly connected to provide excellent rigidity.

EF and AS 40.2 column guards
- Profile protection
- Optical signalling
» Safety regulations stipulate that frame uprights in corner areas must be protected against collision damage. Our AS 40.2 column guards are ideal for this purpose.
» The EF column guard protects columns in the middle of the rack face against damage in case of collision with a fork lift.
Our column guards are distinguished by their shape (see fig.). Both types are 400 mm high – thus exceeding the required minimum height by 100 mm. They are coated in signal-yellow plastic, RAL 1003, and additionally wrapped in black and yellow film.
