Mobile pallet racking is a compact storage solution for a wide range of goods (up to batch size 1) or varying product ranges, as well as for seasonal product buffering. The racking runs are mounted on mobile bases that are remote-controlled to open service aisles as needed. Only one aisle needs to be opened at a time for storage and retrieval, allowing a high storage density. Alternatively, several narrow picking aisles can be opened instead of one wide aisle for a forklift truck. Mobile pallet racking is operated either directly using a control panel or with radio remote control. BITO Mobile pallet racking is available either with or without synchronised motion control.
Mobile pallet racking with synchronised motion control – no downtimes and minimal maintenance costs
Synchronising the movement of racking runs in mobile pallet racking ensures that all racking runs move absolutely parallel to each other when aisles are closed or opened, whether for operation by forklift trucks or for manual operation. The sychronised control system also works if the rack is unevenly loaded or if the loads on the racking levels vary in weight. The mobile bases are controlled electronically to the millimetre. This minimises wear and tear on wheels and rails. As there are hardly any repairs and downtimes, maintenance costs are very low. Non-uniform loading is expressly permitted. This means that in mobile pallet racking with synchronised motion control, goods can be stored in a process-optimised manner: fast-moving items are stored close to the main aisle, C-items at the end of a racking run. This helps to minimise travel routes and increases picking performance.
More storage capacity, no need for a new building
With BITO mobile pallet racking, storage capacity can be increased by up to 180 per cent in the same space, thus avoiding the need for expensive new warehouse buildings. Compact storage reduces the floor space required for the same amount of products by up to 50 per cent. The free space can be used for other (value-adding) activities. In cold stores, compact storage is a must to save energy costs.
