Our customer
The J. König GmbH in Karlsruhe is a family business in the 4th generation. The company produces and sells tools for natural stone fabricators, stonemasons and sculptors. The product portfolio ranges from small stone drills to angle grinders and bulky transport racks.
Initial situation and customer requirements
- J. König GmbH has been expanding rapidly and is still growing. To prepare for the future, our customer has built a new logistics centre.
- The new storage premises are to be used in an optimal way.
- Material flow processes needed improvement.
- The project had to be implemented within a tight time frame.

» At floor level height, carton live flow levels were integrated into the pallet racks.

» To protect employees from falling goods, mesh cladding was fitted at the rear of the pallet racking runs.
Mezzanine floor with shelving units
» To complement the system, BITO installed a shelving-supported mezzanine floor.
On-site application and key features of our storage solution
- The customer stores Euro pallets in BITO pallet racking.
- High turnover products are picked from flow levels at floor height.
- Slow-moving items are provided in boltless shelving units located on a mezzanine floor.
- Bulky goods are also stored on the mezzanine floor.
